Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has vowed to spearhead the hunt for criminals who murdered a schoolgirl in Molo constituency.
Speaking during the burial of the girl at Moto primary school in Kuresoi, Mbugua said that police have launched a manhunt for the thugs. He added that the authorities will not rest until the criminals are apprehended and prosecuted.
“I can assure you that we will not relax until we arrest and prosecute the murderers of this young girl. We have also beefed up security in the area to curb instances of crime,” said Mbugua.
The body of the form one girl was found dumped in Moto river and police believe that she was strangled.
The girl allegedly disappeared two weeks before her body was discovered last week.
Governor Mbugua noted that his government is keen to boost safety of residents by deploying more police officers to the constituencies in the county.
The former Administration Police commandant urged residents to work with the police by reporting suspicious people. He observed that community policing will be critical in addressing security concerns in the county.
The funeral was also attended by Molo MP Jacob Macharia who assured residents that their security concerns will be addressed and area police commandant Joseph Mwangi.
Mwangi asked residents to be on high alert and share intelligence with security officials to improve security.
