Kisii County governor James Ongwae has revealed that he is planning to set up a banana and a sugar cane factory for the county locals.
While speaking at the Keumbu Sub-County headquarters when he held a projects inspection tour in the sub-county, he revealed that his government has the interests of the people of Kisii who elected them, adding that he is dedicated towards making Kisii County the place to be as he promised.
The governor promised to establish the banana and the sugarcane factories in the next financial year in bid to perk up on value addition and providing a ready market for the farmers, adding that his government understands and minds the needs of the people of Kisii.
The Governor also commissioned a theatre and gave out hospital equipment to the Keumbu Sub County Hospital, and inspected the construction of a bus bay.
Ongwae also launched a cleanup exercise of the town, and toured the market, before joining St. Paul’s Amasago Secondary School for a thanksgiving mass and book harvest day.
He also promised a facelift of Keumbu Town and the installation of more street lights, completion of the bus bay, improvement of sanitation and proper waste management among other programmes his government is still undertaking and are yet to be complete.
