Kisii business community has advised the county government to have a register of all business people in Kisii to ease tax collection.
The traders accused the county government of ignoring some of the recommendations they proposed, one of them being having a traders register.
Mr Walter Nyakundi, the chairman Kisii Business Community said this will help the county to determine the number of the traders who are supposed to pay tax and how much it is should be collected on a daily basis.
“Having traders register will help the county to collect enough revenue by having the number of all traders who are paying taxes,” said Mr Nyakundi.
“If you don’t have a traders register how can you be able to know the traders who are supposed to pay their taxes and those with debts,” posed Nyakundi.
He added that it is important for the county to divide the town into zones to identify different traders according to what they sell.
“As traders, we recommended that the town be divided into zones to make tax collectors' work easy,” added Nyakundi
This comes after the county government announced that the revenue collected from traders declined drastically.
