The national government will dialogue with the Kenya National Union of Nurses to make sure their needs are met once and for all, for sanity to be restored in the health sector to avoid recurrent strikes.
Speaking on Wednesday during the opening of the Shoe Foundation Hospital in Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Health CS James Macharia urged nurses to be tolerant as the national government is working to make sure that the problems they are facing are a thing of the past.
“I know there are many challenges in the health ministries at county governments due to its devolvement, and we are working hard with the county government through offering them finances to make sure that nurses are paid promptly,” he said.
“We will ensure good working conditions and equip hospitals with drugs and modern machines that will help in offering quality services to patients,” he added.
He added that the government will create a pool of hospitals where Sh34 billion will be channeled to the health sector to construct two level four hospitals in the forty seven counties, with Ziwa and Burnt Forest hospitals set to be upgraded in Uasin Gishu County at a tune of Sh7 million to be shared equally.
He also added that the government will construct a modern and fully equipped referral hospital in Uasin Gish County, where 200 acres has already been allocated for the project to be commenced soon.
