The court also ordered the University to pay the suspended lecturers their full salaries and allowances after hearing of the case regarding the suspension. The lecturers filled the case in the court requesting for intervention and orders to lift the layoff.

The petitioners claim that, the suspension was not in accordance to the law and was only set to punish them yet they didn’t participate in the riot. The representative of the petitioners told the court that the students who participated in the unrest were charged and there wasn’t a link between the lecturers and the university closure.

The petitioner representative added that, the unrest within the university was led by the students who were protesting against the fee raise and not the suspended lecturers.

However, the University lawyer informed the court that the suspension was meant to help the institution find the solution and ensure the investigations are carried out without interference.

The university lawyer said the suspension was reached fairly and there was no rift of law as the affected lecturers claim.

The court postponed the case until November 6 when the verdict is expected to be delivered.
