A Machakos MCA has asked women to visit health facilities during birth to avoid delivery complications.

Ndithini Ward Representative Stephen Muthuka said it was worrying that many women die giving birth at home.

Speaking on Friday at Kibung’a, Muthuka called on the county government to equip hospitals to improve health service delivery.

He said many women giving birth receive help from midwives.

“Since many women die at home giving birth, there is need for service delivery in hospitals to improve," he said.

He said plans were underway to buy an ambulance for the Yatta Level Four Hospital to attend to emergency ill health cases.

Muthuka reiterated the need to cut women mortality rates at birth.

He said women should be educated on the importance of seeking for professional services at delivery.
