A Kiambu MCA has vowed to take to the county assembly a motion to ensure that at least 35 per cent of revenues collected in each ward should be used to develop the same ward.
The county legislator has said this is to ensure equality in development. He says that residents in some wards have not experienced any development from the county government despite being bigger contributors of the county revenue.
Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi added that the motive is to ensure that no area is left behind in development.
Speaking on Friday when the Kiambu county labour committee met in the assembly chambers, the legislator raised concerns over some wards like Witeithie which is the largest revenue giver and has neither hospital nor public school.
“These people are giving out a lot in the revenue collection yet there is nothing to be proud of from the government. This area is in a wanting state; from the roads to the dumping sites which are undesignated,” Hussein said.
“I have consulted the area MCA, Peter Muiruri, over the issue as he has been fighting to get at least one public health institution in vain and we are going to sensor the motion and we believe we have the support,” he added.
The MCA has said that the residents who have been absconding to pay rates in the area have a better reason as they have been paying for almost three years now without anything in return.
This is the third time a legislator is speaking about the same issue after Kamenu and Witeithie MCAs raised the issue earlier.
