Nakuru East MCA Humphrey Mwaniki wants the county commissioner to take action against police officers who he says assaulted him during a raid he led to seize illegal alcohol.

The MCA claims that some policemen descended on him with kick and blows causing him serious body injuries when he led the raid at an outlet in Pipeline Estate on Monday.

Mwaniki alleges that the outlet located in Pipeline estate is owned by a senior traffic official in the county.

He alleged that the official ordered the police to beat him and disperse members of the public who were ready to invade the outlet.

Speaking to the press from his hospital bed at the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, the MCA called for stern action against the officers.

“I ask the county commissioner to investigate and interdict the officers who beat me up during the raid on Monday,” he said.

Mwaniki alleged that the spirits and wines outlet is operating illegally adding that the outlet sold drinks and alcohol to teenagers and does not adhere to the law in regards to opening and closing hours.

The MCA said that he will push for the closure of the outlet once he is discharged from the hospital.

He also asked the government to investigate and take action against senior government official’s colluding with illicit brewers.
