Hundreds of parents and pupils of Esise Primary School in Borabu constituency on Friday gathered at the school to mourn a veteran teacher who was murdered and his body dumped in a river.

According to family members, Mr Alex Onyamo was strangled a week ago when he reportedly went to Keroka  to withdraw his salary.

On Friday, parents and pupils temporarily blocked the burial of the veteran teacher calling for apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators.

“This is a law abiding nation and justice must prevail. We won’t rest until whoever committed the heinous act is arrested and prosecuted. The gang is well known and some of its members have been caught red handed but the government has never taken steps against them,” said Alice Marang’i on behalf of the parents.

They called for expeditious investigations towards the death.

“The culprits must be apprehended and face prosecution. The police have the authority to do that and as residents, we are ready to cooperate. We want justice not only to the family but also to the entire teaching fraternity,” she added.

They threatened to hold demonstrations if the government fails to identify the criminals besides calling for sacking of local administrators for allegedly tolerating the criminals.

“The government has an obligation to ensure we are safe and if they fail to solve this, we will do that through a demo. We want even local administrators to take responsibility for the crimes since they understand the network,” said Peter Onsomu on behalf of teachers.
