Kisumu County has been challenged to construct lift systems in storey buildings within the town in order to make them more accessible.

Kisumu County nominated MCA, Caroline Ogot who was addressing the press on Wednesday at Huduma centre called upon the county government to encourage building owners invest in and also helping them to install lift system arguing that this would improve service delivery to residents.

The MCA further noted that most of the tall buildings in the county still lacked lift system making the county headquarters look like archive city asking for proper plans to install lift systems to help the aged who were not able to use stairs to use lifts.

Ogot also challenged storey building owners to put their resources aside in improving their storey building status citing that through that it would attract more income generating activities like renting and even using their halls.

“We encourage the owners of the building and county government to collaborate and see the storey buildings have lift system for easy access of the services locals required,
