Kisumu County residents have been challenged to invest in storey buildings just like sister county Kisii to plan with the scarce land.

Speaking at housing forum today (Thursday) in a Kisumu hotel, the county housing audit Officer James Rege called upon the locals to invest in storey building to help them plan with the land just as Kisii town investors.

According to the officer, storey houses are very efficient noting that they help locals in using the scarce land accordingly through putting more investments which was very economical.

He further called on land owners that remained idle to set their resources in developing such lands by building storey building that would attract money for them.

"Let uss learn to invest in houses especially, storey buildings just like other counties like our sister county Kisii. By investing in storey building we would reduced the high rate of lack of proper housing and minimised land wastage by building single rooms instead of storey building,” said Rege.

Rege added that it was important to invest wisely as wise investment helps investors in economising the little resources they have.

His counterpart Nancy Mactain also challenged Kisumu County residents to wisely invest in storey building instead of building single houses.

Mactain stated that land as a resource is a scarce resource and needed to be invested on wisely.
