Head teachers in Naivasha Sub-County have been asked to involve physically challenged students in co-curricular activities for them to discover their talents.
Sub-county education officer, Charles Kimani said some schools deny students with disability chances to participate in co-curricular activities as they consider it a burden.
"Some schools deny students with disability a chance to participate as they think is a burden to incorporate them," said Kimani.
He was speaking on Thursday in Naivasha Town during an educational meeting held at Naivasha Hotel where he said it was against the rights of the physically challenged students.
He says denying them the chance to take part in sports is unfair saying most some of them enjoyed various activities and could be perfect in them if given the opportunity.
"It is possible that they can later earn a living out of sports when they grew up," he adds.
Kimani noted that most physically challenged students have talents that need to be nurtured by stakeholders adding that concerted efforts were needed.
The officer said all school heads should make sure students living with disability in their schools are involved in sports.
