Beneficiaries of the Uwezo Fund in Itumbe Loaction, Sameta District have been warned against misusing the loans.
The beneficiaries have instead been advised to invest in income-generating ventures to empower themselves and their families economically.
Itumbe Loaction chief, Henry Mirera said Thursday that some of the beneficiaries were using the loans on merry-making ceremonies which do not add value to their lives.
He spoke during a chief's baraza organised by his office in collaboration with Amjutine Child Welfare and Protection Centre, a local community-based organisation implementing Peace Initiative Kenya (PIK) Project in Kisii County.
He said those who will waste the loans will be blacklisted, adding that if the beneficiaries utilised the funds prudently, they will stimulate the area’s economic growth as well as fight poverty and crime.
"I am optimistic that if beneficiaries of the Uwezo Fund grants utilise them well, their lives and those of their families will change for the better," observed Mirera.
