Farmers in Kikuyu sub-county have received milk coolers to help them preserve their milk before being sold.

Ms Peninah Wanja, the Kikuyu Deputy livestock production officer told journalists in Kikuyu on Tuesday that the coolers have been facilitated by Ministry of Agriculture through the livestock department.

"We recently received coolers from the State Department of Livestock Development. We will be installing them at selected milk collection points within Kikuyu sub-county to help farmers preserve their milk before it is taken to the market for processing," said Wanja.

Wanja noted that farmers will now be able to increase their milk output and earnings as the milk that goes to waste will be reduced.

"We now expect milk production to go up in this area because farmers now have no excuse that their milk will go bad," she noted.

The livestock officer urged farmers to get relevant expertise on dairy farming so as to make maximum use of the coolers once installed.
