Jubilee leaders last weekend campaigned for massive voter registration in Central Kenya saying that for them to win the 2017 elections the youths must be registered as voters.
The leaders who spoke in Thika Town on Sunday agreed to ensure all persons from their areas of jurisdiction are registered massively.
Led by governor Mwangi wa Iria, the leaders urged youths to participate in the exercise so as to be able to exercise their democratic right during elections.
Iria said that he has already launched a county-wide registration in his area aimed at increasing the number of voters by double the number from the last general elections.
The under fire Murang’a County boss noted with concern that the IDs that have been lying uncollected at the registrar of persons offices in different places should be collected so as those that doesn’t get theirs can re-apply.
The exercise has already netted over 8, 000 applicants in Thika sub-county only for a period of one month now and the leaders feel that the exercise should continue until everyone has applied for one.
They further agreed to work hand in hand in support of the President who is facing a lot of pressure from the opposition at this time when the economy is not pleasing.
The leaders present were among the Governor William Kabogo of Kiambu, Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika MP), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Esther Gathogo (Ruiru), Sabina Wanjiru (Murang’a women rep), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South) and Francis Munyua (Juja).
