Residents of Juja sub-county have been warned against reckless dumping. They were advised to use areas designated by the county government for dumping.
Speaking on Wednesday in Juja, area Public Health Officer Ms Flora Gakui warned those who violate the rules they will be arrested.
She warned that any resident found committing the offense will be fined up to Sh10,000.
“We must live in a clean environment. All of us must follow the rules and regulations. As residents, let us live responsibly without necessarily breaking laws that are in existence. Remember this is for our own health and we must comply or else the law is applied squarely,” Gakui said.
Gakui said that they are in the process of installing new metallic dustbins in the area to enhance environmental cleanliness and thus curb water borne diseases.
“The issue of the main dumping site in the county is under discussion and we are in the final stages of settling on the place. But for now, let us give cleaners easy time by using what is available,” she said.
