Juja MP Francis Waititu has blamed increased land fraud cases on a section of senior citizens in the sub-county.

The MP said that he has been receiving claims from Nyacaba and Mirimaini residents in Juja Constituency blaming a section of senior citizens for their active role in land grabbing and fraud.

This comes a week after he promised to advocate for justice towards an elderly woman who was evicted and her homestead demolished by a private developer who is a senior elder in the area.

“The old men in the society are specially tasked with solving land disputes. Most of them have turned into the opposite, grabbing and evicting people from their lands,” said the legislator.

According to Waititu, the land problem may cause anarchy in Juja in the near future if not resolved immediately and a lasting solution found among the residents.

“This challenge has increasingly started to erupt and if not solved immediately, there might be a negative outcome among the residents,” he added.

The legislator is set to preside over the division of public land that was set aside by all landowners in Nyacaba on Friday where all public institutions among them schools will get equal share of the land.
