Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has urged youths to be ambassadors of peace and shun leaders who preach hatred.

Speaking at the Thika Stadium on Sunday, Kabogo challenged youths to be on the front line in agitating for peace.

He said that existence of peace in the county will provide an opportunity for youths to take part in development.

Kabogo cautioned youths against being lured to violence or acts of crime by selfish leaders.

“Our youths should shun people who would want to use them to cause violence or disrupt peace and instead partner with us (the government) on development,” he said.

He said the county government will work with other organisations to foster peace and unity among the people.

Kabogo at the same time urged youths to use their time well and take advantage of the funds being given by the government to empower themselves.

He said the county government has taken the initiative to empower youths through various development programmes including the Biashara Fund.

On the same note, Kabogo called on youths to register as voters in readiness for 2017 general election.

He said that by registering as voters they (youths) will be able to take part in the election and select the leaders who will spearhead development.
