Kiambu County governor William Kabogo has said he is committed to addressing the issue of water shortage in the area.

He said various water projects have already been completed while others are under way in a bid put to an end rampant water shortages across the 12 sub-counties.

Speaking on Thursday during an address of the assembly on the county’s state of affairs in development, Kabogo reaffirmed that he has set aside enough funds to finance rehabilitation, construction and other works on boreholes and water resources in the county.

“We recently completed the construction of an elevated 100 cubic meter water tank in Ting’ang’a ward and the distribution of pipe work is on-going. Work has also commenced on the Gitiha water project in Githiga Ward and the project is awaiting connection of electricity by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC)," he said.

He added: "We have also rehabilitated the Lussigetti community borehole in Nachu Ward and the rehabilitation of the Mwiki borehole, both of which are now fully operational."

Kabogo also assured the residents of initiating more projects on infrastructure that will go along way in addressing challenges in accessing basic amenities.

“We are also working closely with the World Bank in the installation of 275 street lights across seven urban centres in the county," he added.

The governor said that the projects are aimed at face-lifting all centres across the county for reliable and easy access of basic services for every citizen.
