Kathiani OCPD Mildred Achieng has led Police in the area trying to calm angry demonstrators alleging that the sub-county officials have forgotten them.
On Wednesday, protesters said there was embezzlement of funds meant for renovation of their roads by leaders and that the roads are in wanting states yet no one is concerned about it.
The residents blocked the roads and forced traders to close down their businesses. They called on Governor Alfred Mutua to sack the corrupted officials that have been oppressing them yet there are no developments.
Police arrived immediately and started dispersing the protesters from the roads but their efforts bore no fruit as the residents started burning tyres.
They sang praises for Governor Mutua saying he had released the money but the officers had delayed the construction of the roads in the area.
"We want Mutua to push them out and give us developments. They are only in office to misappropriate our funds," some sang.
The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KURA) officials led by Eng Gerald Kagumo arrived at the area to calm the residents and explain they are the ones responsible for the renovations.
The situation is now back to normal as they were promised immediate action by the officers.
