Speaking in her office on Thursday, Kibet has said that Kenya is 27 percent prevalence of FGM and early pregnancies, especially in North Eastern and Eldoret regions respectively.

“I urge all stakeholders to cooperate with the national and county governments in fighting the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) scam since it has more harm than good,” she said

She reiterated that FGM cannot be fought single handedly, therefore a collective responsibility of every individual is needed, and challenged communities to shun untimely tradition and instead embrace those that are beneficial to the society.

She also urged women to take the advantage of the 30 percent tenders and recruitment in national and county government offices by applying and forming groups to benefit from the same.

She gave a warning to perpetrators of FGM and defilement that their days are numbered, saying they will soon be brought to book.

“I have received 30 cases of defilement where the culprits are under prosecution, and I urge anyone with information leading to the arrest of a person defiling a child should report it with immediate effect at my office and I promise that stern action will be taken,” she added.
