Residents of Keroka have protested to decry lack of enough security in the area after one the business man in the area was found murdered by armed robbers.

Area chiefs and security officers were forced to come in and intervene on Tuesday, when the protest that occurred after the residents also claimed that they have no trust with the community policing team in the area and faulted them for teaming up with armed robbers who they said have been giving people sleepless nights.

The residents also called for the disbandment of the community policing team in the area and also demanded that the police that are there be transferred and new ones brought.

Confirming the incident, Keroka OCPD Peterson Mailu said that the victim Francis Kinuthia Mungai who is 58 years old was in the company of two other people who managed to escape.

The OCPD also said that they have already identified one of the killers and he has since been arrested.

“Yesterday one man was killed and two others managed to escape but we have identified one of the killers and we have him in our custody,” he said.

A new committee in-charge of Keroka market that consists of 13 members has been formed to help in solving various security issues in the town.
