Naivasha elderly people and the Kiama kia Ma elders have offered to offer guidance to recovering alcoholics.

The council's Chairman Ndung'u Gaithuma expressed confidence that the youth will resume productive lives after the crackdown on second-generation drinks.

“I'm happy that a number of youth who have abandoned the consumption of lethal liquor are now working and this is a commendable work," said Ndung'u.

Ndung'u said that the council will dedicate itself to ensuring the recovering alcoholics resume productive lives and that they do not backslide.

“Youth have a role to play in community development and they should seek guidance from the elder people  to ensure they succeed in life," he added.

Speaking yesterday at Naivasha Town during a special prayer session for the recovering alcoholics, Ndung'u challenged youth to follow the guidance of the elders.

“Youth should listen from their elderly to ensure successful outcome," said Ndung'u.

He also urged them to form groups to access government funds like Uwezo fund and start income-generating projects.

The occasion was attended by the National Youth Coordinator Leonard Mwangi who urged youth to  shun second-generation drinks and work to improve their livelihood.
