Kiamaina Chief, Peter Kariuki Macharia has urged Nakuru County government to construct a talent academy at Kiamaina Slums to absorb youth who have abandoned consumption of lethal concoctions.
Kariuki said with wiping of second generation liquor ,youth should be given a chance to exploit their unexploited talents in a talent academy.
“ Youth who have abandoned consumption of illicit liquor should be supported by the county government by being rolled in a talent academy to enable them exploit their talents “, said Kariuki.
Kariuki was today speaking at Kiamaina Slums ,Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County when he met over 20 youth who have abandoned consumption of second generation drinks where he promised them that he would do every thing possible to help them cope with life.
Kariuki said such academy would help ex-drinker youth in exploiting their talents and improve their livelihood.
“ We would like to have such youth enrolled in sports like football , track exercises and other activities aimed at improving their livelihood”, said Kariuki.
The chief however warned youth in engaging into crimes as an alternative to alcoholism.
“We want youth to seek advice from provincial administration on how to improve their lives through starting small businesses by accessing Uwezo Fund”, said Kariuki.
Kariuki assured the youth that he would mobilize all jobless youth in Kiamaina to form groups in a bid to access youth funds .
“ Youth Fund is meant for improvement of youth and I will make sure they access this fund “, said Kariuki.
He also thanked local residents in wiping out second generation brews and urged them to enhance the cooperation .
