Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has urged law enforcers in the sub-county to beef up security and deal with criminal elements.
Speaking to journalists in Kiambaa on Thursday, the MP said there was a rise in crime rates within Kiambaa town.
He said that the public have raised concerns over deteriorating security.
“I have received several complaints from the public over insecurity. Our law enforcers should boost surveillance,” he said.
The Kiambaa lawmaker said that law enforcers have a huge responsibility of protecting citizens.
He said that insecurity remains a major concern and appealed to the public to support the police in the fight against crime.
He noted that for the area to be safe, the public, the police and other stakeholders will have to join hands.
On the same note, the MP warned youths against joining terror groups.
He said that radicalisation of youths is a threat to the country's security.
“Our youths should stay away from terror and criminal groups that only want to ruin their lives,” he said.
Koinange stated that terror agents are taking advantage of youth’s vulnerability to recruit them into crime and terrorism.
The MP urged the government to put in place strategies that will protect youths from radical teachings and take action against religious leaders and groups said to be radicalising youths.
