The Kiambu County government has pledged to take care of all funeral costs of the deceased children who died on Friday evening in an accident in Thika.
The accident occurred near Blue Post Hotel where the two, Dennis Mwangi (Std 8) and Steve William Wambua (Std 7) at Moi Academy were involved in the accident. This is after a truck carrying sand hit the matatu they were traveling in from behind causing four deaths instantly.
Two others died in hospital.
The organising committee has set a memorial service for Thursday at the school in honour of both children with the county government top officials, the governor and the MCAs, expected to attend.
The pupils will be laid to rest on Friday and Saturday this week in Kabutha-Kangema and Karaba-Mwea respectively.
Speaking when he met the two families on Tuesday in Starehe, Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi said that the governor has sent his condolences to them and he is mourning with them for their great loss.
He added that the county government has decided to pay all the funeral services bills that will be incurred in the process.
Kabogo, in the message, said that he is doing all he can to curb traffic congestion that is overwhelming Thika roads and thus causing deaths.
He called on the traffic police department in Thika to ensure all is well on the roads in the meantime as the issue is sorted out.
