Kiambu District Hospital will on Thursday receive new and modern equipment from donors and wellwishers, the County Executive Committee member (CeC) for Health Dr Jonah Mwangi has said.
Speaking to the press from his office in Thika town on Wednesday, Mwangi said the equipment were pledged earlier by some Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs). He said they will be unveiled tomorrow so that they are put to use immediately.
He said Kiambu County is committed to provide quality healthcare in a safe environment and ensure that Kiambu people have high-quality, high-value health care facilities as they are entitled to.
Dr Mwangi assured Kiambu residents that all the county public health facilities will be upgraded and equipped, more health workers recruited and information technology embraced in the delivery of health services.
The county, he said, also intends to improve the effectiveness and quality of care for patients so that all patients receive better care. He said he has been consulting around the world to ensure that Kiambu hospitals receive the best facilities.
“We employed more medics and health practitioners earlier and we are planning to increase the number as the health facilities have also increased this year. We want the health facilities to be of high quality and effectiveness. This has always been a key priority in my work,” Dr. Mwangi said.
The governor is expected to grace tomorrow’s ceremony for the handing over of the equipment.
