Ngewa MCA Karungo Thangwa has criticised the Kiambu Ministry of Health for failing to account for Sh100 million set to upgrade Kiambu District Hospital.

Thangwa said that the money was plundered since no medical equipment was purchased

“The money was supposed to buy medical equipment for Kiambu Hospital but none was purchased,” said Thangwa.

Speaking on Friday after visiting the Kiambu District Hospital, Thangwa claimed that the hospital received medical facilities from Ruiru Hospital.

“There has been an outcry from Ruiru residents that their medical equipment were taken to Kiambu District Hospital,” said Thangwa.

The ward leader called the Kiambu CeC for Health to come out and tell the public where the money went.

“We are calling Jonah Mwangi the Health CeC to tell the public where the Sh100 million went,” said Thangwa.

He said the move will erode the gains being undertaken by the national government to provide affordable and quality health care.

“This misappropriation of medical funds will not go well in ensuring residents have access to affordable and quality health care,” said Thangwa.

The MCAs remarks come after patients claimed that some equipment such as the X-ray and the ultrasound machine are not functioning after they broke down and patients are being referred to private clinics and hospitals where the services are too expensive.
