A section of Kiambu Town residents have called on elected leaders in the county to have unity of purpose amongst themselves and to end their continued squabbles so as to ensure that projects are fully implemented.
The residents’ call comes in the wake of continued mounting pressure on the Kiambu County Governor, William Kabogo to relocate his office from Thika Town to Kiambu, the headquarters of the county.
Speaking on Monday, Kiambu Residents Association Chairman, Paul Gituku said the continued row among the elected leaders in the county is the main cause of all stalled and delayed project implementation in the county.
Gituku said a lot of time has been spent on political wrangles among leaders at the expense of delivering campaign pledges made to the electorate in the last general elections thereby derailing the county’s economic progress.
“If the trend of political bickering continues, then there will be nothing worthwhile for these elected leaders to show to the public as time will have caught up with them,” said Gituku.
A member of the group, Steve Wainaina said the prime objective of all elected leaders is to improve the living standards of its people by creating avenues where they can access business opportunities among other goodies.
Wainaina urged leaders to desist from tussles and begin reading from the same script for the sake of county’s development while serving the public in the most satisfactory manner.
