Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo has called on the area youth to engage in the just launched National Youth Service (NYS) exercise in the area.
Speaking during the launch on Friday afternoon, Njomo said that the idling by the youths in the area has caused a lot of evils from them with most of the indulging in immorality, criminal activities and alcoholism.
He added that the deaths that have been experienced in Kiambu County in less than three months have been from the idling and unemployment which, according to him, has been eliminated by the launch of the NYS troops in the area.
Kiambu County youth and sports executive member Machel Waikenda in the same event said that he is delighted by the efforts that area MPs have been doing to ensure the youths are kept busy with the initiatives that are aimed at benefitting them.
He noted that his department has been doing its best to ensure the young generation is empowered through the funding and youth friendly programmes which have been taken positively by the youths.
Waikenda said that Jubilee government has brought about good relations with the youths and added that he is sure that they are going to change for the betterment of this country.
The youths in Kiambu have lauded the initiative by the MP saying that they are ready to commit their time for the same.
He was accompanied by Director of NYS Nelson Githinji, Kiambu County Youth Executive Machel Waikenda, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, and Juja MP Francis Waititu.
