Lari MP Mburu Kahangara has lauded the National Youth Service (NYS) empowerment initiative saying it has created opportunities to many jobless youth.
Speaking on Sunday in Kairi AIPCA Church in Gatundu North during a fundraiser Kahangara said the initiative's 'save as you earn' plan will help many youths start small businesses after the contract is over.
"This is the Jubilee's government promise of creating jobs for our youths. They are serving their country as they earn and save for the future," said Kahangara.
Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga who had also attended the function echoed the MP's sentiments.
"I support the government's agenda of involving our youths in the mainstream economy and society," said Njenga.
The two MPs also urged their colleagues to shun from divisive talks that may bring hatred and animosity among Kenyan communities.
"Let us avoid idle talks that may taint the government's youth agenda. The government just wants to empower the youths and that is all," said Kahangara.
Kigo on his part said leaders should strive to inspire hope and talk peace and should avoid making remarks that may led to chaos.
