Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has put road contractors on notice saying they risk not being paid if they continue doing shoddy work.

Speaking at Tigoni Trading Centre in Lari on Wednesday, Kabogo raised concerns over what he termed as shoddy road repairs in Lari.

The governor said the county will not allow shoddy contractors to derail development.

He noted that some of the roads in Lari have been done poorly and asked the contractors to re-do them if they want to receive their pay.

“Road contractors who have been awarded tenders by the county government must do a good work or risk not being paid,” he said.

The governor said some contractors were focused on money at the expense of giving quality services.

Kabogo directed ward administrators to monitor all development projects and make sure they are standard.

He also urged the Members of County Assembly to monitor development projects taking place in their respective areas.

He said the county has invested heavily on infrastructure and will not allow the funds to go to waste.

At the same time, Kabogo directed the roads department to fast-track road repairs and renovations. He said the department is among those that have been adequately funded in the 2015-2016 Financial Year.
