Land grabbers in Kiambu Town have been asked to surrender the public land they have taken illegally.

Addressing a public meeting on Sunday, Kiambu Township MCA said land grabbers are hindering development programmes from being implemented due to unavailability of land.

MCA James Njenga said that the grabbers involve undisclosed individuals and groups who have taken the public land that has been earmarked for key projects.

"We know there are individuals and groups who have grabbed land in this town which is set aside for public amenities like police posts, markets and schools. Attempts are still on to grab more land. We say no to this and grabbed land must be returned,” said Njenga.

The MCA said that if the grabbers do not voluntarily relinquish the grabbed land, the public will forcefully take it away from them.

"What is public must remain that way. Grabbers must return the stolen land and if need be, we will demonstrate to those offices entrusted with securing public land to demand that grabbers return the public land,” added Njenga.
