News of hip-hop artiste Joseph Haule aka Professor Jay clinching a parliamentary seat in Tanzania has come with an impact as local artistes are now gearing up to join politics.

Francis Jabuya famously known as MC Goody, a reknown radio presenter and artiste who has been at the helm promoting Kibera's upcoming music artistes has sent shocks into the political arena by declaring his candidature for Laini Saba Ward Representative come 2017 general elections.

Jabuya took on his facebook account to break the news to the public before coming out openly to declare interest in the position that is currently held by Mr David Kitavi.

"Congratulations Prof Jay; its a challenge to other artistes especially in Kenya to come out and prove their worth. For that reason I declare my interest in the position of MCA Laini Saba Ward in 2017. For now I am an Independent candidate and only need your support," reads the post in part.

At 29 years, Jabuya is set to turn things around despite challenges by banking on the support of the young generation that has for a long time identified with him.

He is currently a radio presenter at Pamoja FM, a community radio in Kibera, hosting a program dubbed Msanii Mtaani that aims at promoting local artistes who rise and grow in Kibera.

Aside from making a name among the youths as a promoter of talent, Mc Goody has achieved immensely in terms of popularity due to a series of product promotions for different companies within and outside the slum.

Speaking to this reporter at Freepols area in Kibera on Thursday, the artiste expressed confidence in himself as he prepares to face his opponents.

"The ground has welcomed me and so I have to carry on with this. Many people have requested me to vie for the position in the past but it was not yet my time. For now you can feel the wave, everyone is singing Goody and I assure you that Laini Saba shall not be the same again," he said.
