In an effort to educate Kibera residents about changing weather patterns, the Kibra Constituency Development Fund committee has decided to set up two weather stations in the area.

The committee says the stations will enable residents monitor weather changes in the area to enable them decide on routes to use, plan their daily work schedules, decide on the choice of clothing among other things.

The Kibra CDF committee chairperson Leah Asego said the two stations will be set up at Olympic and Jamhuri primary schools.

"We are working in collaboration with the meteorological department and we have decided to set up two weather stations to help residents know how daily weather will be during the El Nino period," she said.

"El Nino is real. We better work on prevention measures than be called abruptly to go save people. We do not want to lose any person that is why we are doing this," she added.

She also advised Kibra residents living in areas prone to flooding to relocate to ensure they do not become victims of floods.

Asego also advised parents to closely monitor their children to ensure they do not expose themselves to danger during the anticipated heavy rains period.
