Kidney patients in Nyamira County are set to benefit from a new dialysis machine that was purchased by the County government.
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama said patients who need kidney treatment will no longer have to travel to other counties for services. Most of the patients in the county were forced to travel to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital in Kisumu for dialysis.
“Hundreds of patients suffering from kidney failure will now undergo dialysis at Nyamira Level 4 Hospital saving them from the troubles of seeking expensive treatment elsewhere,” said the governor who was speaking at Nyangoso Village in West Mugirango constituency.
“The new machine would spare patients the long and expensive trips to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi to get treatment,” he noted.
“I am happy that our people who have been travelling out of the county to get kidney treatment can now be attended to in our hospital now that we have installed a new set of dialysis machines,” said the governor.
The hospital will now offer affordable rates and quality dialysis services to residents of Nyamira County.
