Residents of Kiganjo area of Thika Sub-County have asked the police to investigate and arrest a gang of young men who have been robbing them at night near Corner 2.
According to the residents, the robbers have a tendency of attacking the public when the police are on a patrol in another area or when they have left the area.
They said that the gang is targeting electronics and other valuables and they can kill if they are denied.
John Muga, a Nyumba Kumi official in the area, said that he has been a victim and the police have been receiving reports but they have never been serious on the issue.
Speaking in a security meeting held in Kianjau, on Saturday morning, the officer said that there is need to educate the public further on how to deal with crime incidences as some of them do know where to report after attacks.
However, the officer in charge of Kiganjo Police Post Inspector Richard Kasee said that the police are probing the matter and they will make arrests in partnership with the public and community policing.
“We have received complaints from you officially now and we are going to make an arrests soon. I am sending a message to the criminals to retreat before we get them because we will not relent in providing security for our residents,” the officer said.
He said that the residents have also been reluctant to give information.
