Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika has defended Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru against corruption allegations.

Briefing journalists at Nakuru county offices on Saturday, Kihika alleged that it was a plot by some politicians to frustrate women in leadership.

She said that calls to have Waiguru resign over allegations of corruption are being castigated by some leaders who are afraid of her work, adding that she has shown the kind of leadership Kenyans have been yearning for through her development as Devolution CS.

The Speaker added that some leaders feel threatened and are determined to have Waiguru sacked.

“The corruption allegations being leveled against CS Waiguru are being orchestrated because of her good work and nothing else,” said Kihika.

The Speaker asked women across the country to stand firm and fight attempts that are focused on pushing them out of leadership.

She alleged that some leaders are not happy with the rise of women in power.

“Women leaders must stand up and protect our interests both in leadership and inclusion in development,” she added.

Speaker Kihika vowed to rally women in support of Waiguru and other women leaders whom she said are being targeted.
