Kikuyu Member of County Assembly has said he is willing and ready for a salary pay cut in a bid to find revenue for teachers salaries.
This comes after Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba proposed a motion seeking to reduce the salaries of public officers by half, so as to reduce the public wage bill.
Addressing youth at a business forum at Give hope hall in Kikuyu Town on Tuesday, MCA Binary Wainaina said leaders should show their support by accepting the pay cut for the benefit of the children.
“Leaders should lower their wages for the sake of the children who are at home, as a way of showing service and willingness to work for the benefit of the people,” said Wainaina.
Wainaina hailed the Kiambu Governor William Kabogo for being a good leader and leading the way for all leaders in Kiambu, by revealing he was ready for a pay cut while addressing Machokos residents when he attended the burial of Mike Mbuvi's father last week.
The MCA said all leaders in Kiambu should emulate the governor and accept the pay cut for the benefit of the nation.
“I fully support the motion as this is for the service of the nation. As leaders, we should sacrifice what we have for the people we serve. People will know the kind of leaders they have when the motion is tabled in parliament.
