The Kikuyu traffic department has set aside a two day programme aimed at sensitising motorists on traffic rules.
Speaking in her office on Monday, the Kikuyu Traffic base commander, Inspector Elizabeth Wakuloba, said the programme will be held at the Kikuyu chief's camp on August 14 and 15.
She said they decided to come up with the programme due to the increased cases of motorists breaking traffic rules especially those using the southern by pass.
The traffic commander said that several accident cases would have been avoided if such rules were maintained.
She said that the session was open to all motorists in Kikuyu, adding that the programme will extend to other parts of the region.
"I want to urge Sacco chairpersons to ensure that their motorists attend the session as it will be of great value to them,” said Wakuloba.
She said the motorists will be educated on traffic rules adding that a copy of traffic rules will be issued to all those who attend the session for them to read and always remind themselves of what is expected.
Inspector Wakuloba said they expect a great improvement and minimal traffic mistakes from drivers after the session.
Dennis Muriuki, a Sacco chairman in kikuyu, said that the programme was of great help especially to the Saccos as a whole, as a single driver's mistake can affect the whole Sacco.
He said that though the programme will interfere with their business, it will be worth it as they will have gained a lot.
