Police in Kikuyu on Thursday arrested two suspects in Kinoo with fake Sh652,000.

Police say that the two have been circulating the money in the entire region for a month now. Confirming the incident, Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu said that the suspects were arrested in a rental house in Kinoo after police got information from members of the public.

He said that the two, Richard King'ola and Christopher Mwisirwa, are believed to have come from Nairobi. He said that counterfeit money has been circulating for the past month adding police were hunting for the suspects behind the crime.

He said that according to police investigations the two were dealing with the business of making fake currency with five others in Nairobi.

The police boss said that once they make such money they would move to other counties and circulate or even purchase goods with them or even land.

He said investigations are still ongoing aading the two will appear in court on Friday.

"I want to alert members of the public about counterfeit currency that has been circulating so that they are vigilant especially business people," said Maweu.

He, however, thanked members of the public for informing the police about the suspects' residence. He encouraged residents to keep on with the good relations with the police in a bid to fight crime.
