Police on Thursday night foiled an attempted robbery at a supermarket in Kikuyu town.

The suspects are said to have accessed Kikuyu Selfridges Supermarket using the back door, which is adjacent to rental house they were living in.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com in his office on Friday, Kikuyu Sub County police boss Mr Mutune Maweu said the robbers took off with nothing since the police responded immediately the alarm went off.

The OCPD, however, said police have launched a manhunt for the suspects who are still at large. “The suspects were young men in their early twenties, who had rented an apartment near the supermarket to access their target, he said. “We are also probing the landlord of the building where the suspects attempted to access the supermarket.”

He raised concerned over business premises in the area which are adjacent to residential buildings and apartments, warning that investors must ensure maximum security before setting and opening businesses.

The OCPD further noted that nobody had been arrested in connection with the abortive robbery.
