The area Deputy Environment office Stephen Ng'ang'a on Friday said that the area has experienced increased littering despite their being proper refuse disposal areas set up. He said food vendors dispose waste every evening in the areas where they operate.

Ng'ang'a revealed that in the past two weeks the environment department has been carrying out campaign in Kikuyu town to educate the businesspeople on the importance of proper waste disposal.

"Especially, hawkers who move from place to place have largely contributed to this menace," he said

The environment officer said that those who will be found disposing waste in the town will be apprehended.

"It has come to our concern that this menace is growing each day especially by those small scale food vendors. They pour dirty water on roads. If any resident is found, they will face the law accordingly," said Ng'ang'a.

He advised residents to use litter-bins that are provided by county government throughout the town accordingly.
