Nakuru County governor Kinuthia Mbugua has promised to support Catholic faithfuls in the preparations for Eucharistic Congress to be held in Subukia sub County.

Mbugua made the affirmation on Wednesday after meeting Fr Lawrence Mbogo of Subukia Catholic Diocese at his office in Nakuru County.

Mbugua said his administration has put in place measures to ensure the event is a success.

“We have laid down plans on how to deal with challenges that may arise during the event," said Mbugua.

He said that he has directed the health department to provide ambulances to the diocese for First Aid support.

“The event will witness a huge number of faithfuls and this calls for ambulances to cater to those who might have health problems," said the governor.

He also said that security will be beefed up and urged those who will attend the occasion not to be afraid.

“More security agencies will be deployed to ensure there is maximum security," said Mbugua.

He further thanked the residents of Subukia for hosting the event and said it will market the county internationally.

Mbugua added that the county government will work together with the organising committee in ensuring the success of the congress which includes facilitating the grading of the access road to the Subukia Shrine.

The event is slated for 1st to 3rd October 2015 at the Subukia Shrine.
