Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Kisii Central Sub-County Chairman Timothy Atuti has commended Kisii Governor James Ongwae for establishing ward bursaries across the 45 wards in the county, describing the initiative as a major boost to education in the region.

Atuti said the ward bursaries targeting bright and needy children from the 45 wards in the County had immensely contributed to access of quality education among children from poor families, whose education careers would have been ruined due to lack of school fees.

Speaking at St.Paul's High School -Amasago, Atuti asked the County Government to consider scaling up the bursary allocations, to ensure the increasing demand from bright and needy children is addressed to improve their access to education.

"On behalf of secondary school heads from Kisii Central sub-County, I am thanking the Kisii Governor and his government for the noble idea of establishing ward bursaries which have impacted positively on the bright and needy children from poor families in their school fees needs,” stated Atuti.

The KESSHA Boss regretted that majority of the bright and needy children from the local communities will not succeed in achieving their education dreams if such initiatives from both the national and county governments will not come to their aid.
