Speaking to this writer, resident after resident hailed the department of roads for responding to their cry and promised to work together in a bid to avert reckless dumping of dirt at different locations in the suburb.

According to them, the county leadership should employ permanent staff in the estate and in the neighboring Menyinkwa as a quick way of responding to such disasters.

“We must thank the county government for unblocking the trenches. For those who are keen, sometimes the road becomes impassible when it rains and I think by doing this job, we will no longer experience the menace. However, it is important for the county to delegate the duty to area youths who can perhaps respond quickly,” said Agnes Mokeira.

They also promised to take personal responsibility to ensure proper management of environment by averting incidents where residents litter aimlessly.

“We will also ensure that every resident is responsible. Sometimes some of us litter without putting in mind that it contributes to blockage of the drainage system along our major roads,” added Evans Omare.

County government representative Zachary Monubi reiterated the commitment of the James Ongwae led government to ensure transport system was not affected with blocked drainage systems.

“We are always ready to ensure our roads are passable. It is however paramount that as residents we ensure that protection of our drainage starts with us. We should desist from cultivating along the roads,” he said.
