A middle aged man, who admitted threatening to kill his mother, has been remanded in police custody for one week by a Kisii court to await a probation officer’s report.
Julius Omweri admitted that on May26, 2015, he chased his mother Nyaboke Omweri with a panga threatening to kill her for no reason while drunk.
The prosecutor, Darius Nyauma told the court that Julius came home drunk in the evening and took a panga from his house, and went to his mother’s house and started threatening to kill her.
Nyaboke is said to have raised an alarm and members of public came to her rescue, which saw Omweri arrested and taken to Gesonso Police station.
Kisii Principal Magistrate, Hope Simuli observed that even though the accused admitted to charges, he will be remanded in custody to await report from the probation officer.
His case will be mentioned on July 7, 2015.
In the same court, four motorists were fined between Sh5,000 to Sh10,000 or serve up to one month imprisonment in default, after entering guilty pleas for flouting traffic rules on different roads in Kisii.
The motorists were charged for driving without a licence, not wearing a safety helmet and lack of insurance cover for their motor vehicles.
