Elderly persons in Kisii have been urged to keep active by taking extra care of themselves and exercising to keep them healthy and live longer.
Addressing the elderly in Iyabe on Monday area Chief, Joseph Mosumari said the encouraged them to take extra care and stay active over cold and rainy months to keep as strong as possible.
He said the area is privileged to have many elderly people who are over 70 years who are still strong and asked them to eat well to make sure that they live longer.
Mosumari also added that the elderly should ensure they advise the young on how to live since there are many challenges facing the youth; he cited that they should highly advise the young on the kind of foods they used to take that have kept them strong all the way.
The chief urged the elderly to ensure that they are eating well, taking vitamin D supplements, staying in touch with friends and family and being careful with medication.
He called upon those who have attained the age of 75 to be guided on how to apply for government funds so that they can be paid by the government.
