A family from Kiogoro Ward in Kisii County is yet to come into terms with the alleged kidnapping of its member.

The family has accused Kisii Police officers for allegedly being behind the abduction of a kin from his rural home last week.

Speaking on Wednesday at the village, the angry family members claimed the kidnapped man Hezron Ogeto was whisked out of his rural home with people in police uniforms who identified themselves as police officers from Kisii town.

However, the kin was unable to trace Mr Ogeto at the said police station or in the police custody or even find his name among those who had been arrested last week.

“We have been looking for him in the police station, hospitals and even mortuaries in Kisii, but he is nowhere to be found. We suspect that some gangs may have used police officers' uniforms to abduct him to score a certain goal. We want the police to give us an answer to this,” said Abel Ongeri the victim's family member.

According to them, the victim had been complaining of receiving threats from people who identified themselves as police officers in in his business hub at Kisii town.

“When executing his business, he has always complained of being threatened by people whom he identified as police officers. He even recorded a statement but now he is nowhere to be seen after being 'arrested by police',” added Antony Monari, another family member.

However, Kisii OCPD Solomon Kiragu denied any knowledge to the incident and asked the family to work with police officers to solve the puzzle.

I am not aware of the accusations, but I can confirm our police have never arrested anybody of that name. The family should stop trivialising the matter and instead work with us to rescue the victim,” said OCPD Kiragu.
