Kisii County’s first lady Elizabeth Ongwae has called upon the community to come together and help the orphans and vulnerable children in the county.

Speaking during her shoe donation to school going pupils in Monyerero Ward, Kitutu Chache North Sub County Kisii on Wednesday evening she said all the county workers and those who work in the private sectors should make sure that they help where they can more so the orphans.

She said the increasing number of school drop outs in the county is alarming and therefore there was need for the community to chip in so that they can have a developing county together with learned people.

In her shoe donation over 280 pupils received two pairs of shoes each from her own efforts to end all barriers preventing children from going to school.

She also added that she is committed towards improving the lives of school going children, adding that the programme will be extended to all other Wards in the County.

“This is our county and we would like to see all people get better education and we are the one who can make sure that we achieve that,” she added.
